Happy New Year Sharks - Juniors, Womens and 5ths are back in action this week
As the start of season 2020/21 approaches we are starting to get an understanding of protocols and restrictions that will be in place for training and playing. One key protocol relates to limitations on the sharing of cricket equipment. Cricket Victoria are currently finalising the protocols for equipment sharing, and it is expected that these protocols will be adopted by SECA and will apply to all club players – girls, boys and senior players.
Sharing of personal equipment (batting pads, batting gloves, helmets and bats) will be permitted subject to cleaning of equipment between uses by the methods defined by Cricket Victoria. Bats can be easily cleaned (and shared), and although cleaning of other personal equipment is possible, this is less practicable during a match or training session. For personal safety reasons, the club committee recommends that all players should have their own helmet, batting pads, batting gloves, groin protector (boys) and thigh pad in order to play this season.
Your club committee recognises that complying with this protocol may present difficulties for some players, but don’t worry, the club is here to help. We are developing a range of initiatives to help equip players of all ages for the coming season regardless of your current circumstances. Please do not let the winter of lockdown deter you from playing cricket. We want to see all of the shark family back at Packer Park this season, and we will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
We will be making a number of announcements about opportunities for players to access both new and used equipment (and cricket clothing) over the coming weeks. This week we are pleased to announce the following offering to junior and senior players:
The club has a limited supply of Masuri Helmets available for sale. These are 2019/20 stock with a retail value of more than $120 and are suited to higher age group junior or senior players. The senior helmets are Masuri T Line Steel Helmets (Green, Large size) and the junior helmets Masuri C Line Plus Steel Helmets (Green, Large size).
The club is selling these helmets for $75 for a senior helmet and $65 for a junior helmet. You will be able to try the helmet for size and fit before making your purchase, but obviously this cannot happen until the current restrictions on community movement are relaxed. If you are interested in taking up this offer please contact Secretary, Andrew Kindred (firstname.lastname@example.org) to register your interest. Fitting (and sale) will occur on a “first to register interest first served” basis as soon as training begins and will continue until the limited stock is sold.
Watch out for more exciting equipment offers in the coming weeks!
